Zac and I finally finished his back piece after nearly a year of work, and it's such a joy to see it complete, and a little sad to have it done. When we initially discussed the piece, he told me that I could do whatever I wanted as long as it fit his theme. So I read a book he brought me about alchemy, did a bunch of internet research, made an insane scribbly sketch, and then we started on this. . Because of the way I tattoo, adding and amending as we go, looking back at a tattoo that was made over the course of a year is like looking at my diary. This is the part where we were talking about our childhoods, that's the part where I was brokenhearted, this is the part where we were listening to Holst at max volume. It's humbling and exhilarating, and I'm grateful I get to do this for a living. Thanks so much for being a badass, @capnzac.
I loved doing this piece for Melanie. We blended the enso circle, a Zen meditation on imperfection and embracing things how they are (that I painted for her that day), with a structured, but weird pattern that I drew on her skin. It fits the feeling we were going for perfectly, and it was so fun collaborating to make it. Thanks so much, Melanie!
I loved this project so much. Kate, you're a badass. THANK YOU! ❤️ . I'm opening my books up right now for more large, abstract, hand-painted pieces like this. If you want to get in, call the shop directly (link in bio) and ask our assistant Riley to set us up with a consultation. Be sure to mention you want THIS type of piece, so we can hustle you in. :)
Recently finished this piece for a client celebrating some major life victories. Thanks for sharing your good vibes, Ronnie!
Just want to say how happy I am to work with the best crew in town. Love my tattoo family! Thanks, Kansas City, for showing us so much love. @whisperingdanny @stevencampbelltattoo @bobrodriguez138 @juanmoya73 @nathanblankenship56 @cory_lee_kirby @joshmartinart @ririapplepie @crickita @kewpiedoll_13
Sorry for the absence, I've been at Burning Man! Now I'm back in my own cozy bed, with my kids napping in the next room, and quietly looking at the few photos I brought home. I couldn't be more grateful for the experience. 🔥😍
YES. Have I mentioned that I've been totally in love with tattooing lately? Like more than usual? Part of it is that I'm getting to build this kind of thing for clients occasionally. Thank you for being such a badass, Danielle! ❤️ Hand painted onto the body with a sumi-e brush and tattoo ink, and then tattooed on.
I took my boys to the tiny town of Lathrop, MO to see the eclipse at 100%, but clouds swept in and ruined totality. Except... without the eclipse itself to focus on, I was sort of overwhelmed by how dark and quiet and suddenly nighttime the whole thing was. The birds with chirping and crickets started singing and it got cool... And two minutes later it was real life again.
Most days I do tattoos. Some days I do this?
Of course this is how I vacation. :) Drawing on the dock, surrounded by friends floating on rafts, friends drinking morning champagne, friends playing guitars upstairs in the house. There's a nice breeze, and I think it's about time to put away the sketchbook and sit in a giant pink flamingo and have some champagne of my own. Life is... pretty good.
