12.28.07 - So the crazy string of cancellations has finally stopped and it's back to business. My schedule is still unusually open right now, though, so now is definitely the time to make an appointment.

It's still snowy, so at home there's still a lot of this:

My dog likes to bury his face in the snow and then fling his head around so snow flies everywhere. Then he barks at the snow.

He's not the smartest dawg out there.

I'm working on some cool tattoos (several sleeves are slowly nearing completion) so I should have some big new stuff to post one of these days.

ALSO:

I just found out that Yellow Cab of Kansas City offers free "Holiday Cabs" (up to $25) from Dec. 18th through New Year's. So don't drive drunk! Put the Yellow Cab number in your phone and use it. 816-471-5000. Check out Yellow Cab's website for more details.

Oh yeah, and happy holidays.

12.19.07 - Every year it happens, and every year I forget to expect it and am surprised when I get a ton of cancellations the week or two before Christmas.

It makes sense - some of it's weather, some of it's money, and some is just bad luck or timing or both. But whatever it is, I've been doing less of this:

and more of this:

But the good thing about having a lot of cancellations is that I have a lot of open appointments. So PLEEEASE come in and get tattooed. ESPECIALLY short notice. Give me a call and I'll get you in.

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of my dog:

12.11.07 - Posted a couple of new tattoo pictures. I still haven't figured out a good place in the shop to take photos, so the color's a little funny...

The weather's so crappy today that I'm not working, so I've been debating all morning about what sort of rainy day project to start. So far all I've accomplished is making coffee. It's a good start, right?

Maybe I'll get around to doing some painting. :)

Once again, I'm now working at Exile Tattoo. Click banner to check out the shop website, or go to the Contact page for directions and such:

11.7.07 - Beginning Tuesday, November 13th, I'll be working at Exile Tattoo in Kansas City, MO. I'm sad to leave my friends at Freaks, but I'm excited to be going somewhere closer to home and I can't wait to work with Whispering Danny. Stop by the shop and say hi anytime on or after the 13th. I'll still be working the same Tuesday through Saturday schedule (although I'll be off the 7th through the 12th), and if you have an appointment you can expect a call from me in the next few days confirming your appointment at the new shop.

11.2.07 - Yesterday was one crazy day! I tattooed a huge, 7-hour chest piece on a client and he sat through the whole thing like a champ. Maybe that doesn't sound like a big deal, but getting tattooed for seven hours is... awful. And he didn't move a muscle. Thanks for being such a badass, Nick!

NOTE: This is his first tattoo. !!!

10.27.07 - Posted a few new tattoo pictures. In other news, the shop's been a little slow this week so we've been surreptitiously photoshopping each other's heads onto really raunchy porn, printing it, and then leaving it out in the person's station for his or her clients to see. And it's gotten worse and worse. Today I made Irene getting bouffed by a guy(?) in a bunny costume. Hehe.

10.18.07 - I was just in New York for my friend Erin's wedding, and I took some photos because for once I had enough time. I checked out the Bodies exhibit, which I guess is showing at 10 or 15 different cities around the world, and which is pretty damn cool. It has preserved cadavers in various states of dissection, some of which are cut into crazy cross-sections. I got to hold a preserved brain and a liver. (Awesome.)

I also did the shamelessly touristy things like taking a carriage ride in Central Park and ice skating at Rockefeller Center. I didn't realized until this weekend that there's an entire restaurant devoted to providing a view to the ice skating rink, so that when you flail around, grab the rail, and then bust your ass on the ice it's witnessed by about 100 people. I got a round of applause from one table. All in all it was a fun trip! Here are some photos:

Also updated one tattoo photo with a healed photo. Just to stay legit.

- Just put up 6 new photos--check 'em out. Also, if I asked you to come in so I could take a healed photo, get in here! There are a couple of tattoos floating around out there that I'm excited to post. (I told you guys I'd cry if you didn't come back for a photo. I meant it. You know who you are.)

09.26.07 - No new photos today. However, I went to the Melvins/Big Business show in Lawrence last night and it rocked my socks off. (Seriously, they were REALLY good.)

old promo photo I dragged off of their label's website

So I stayed up half the night looking up old gig posters on Ebay and checking out "RARE STONER WITCH LP! PINK VINYL" listings. Frank Kozik used to do the art for a lot of posters for the Melvins in the 90's, so I keep hoping I'll get lucky and find a stash of them that no one's bidding on.

I'm starting on 2 sleeves in the next week and both of them are going to be really fun. I can't wait! Probably won't have finished pictures for a couple of months, but when I do, watch out. It's gonna be out of control. (By the way, Fall is the BEST time to start on a big piece like a sleeve in my opinion. It gives you plenty of time to finish it before short sleeve weather starts up again, and you don't have to spend any of your summer avoiding sun and water.)

09.20.07 - New portrait pix and a tattoo of a Mark Ryden painting. Check it out.

09.03.07 - So I guess summer's over? That's what Labor Day signifies, right? My friends Kevin and David came to visit this weekend and we fed leftover pizza to the geese in Loose Park. We also ate blueberry muffins, drank some tasty beer, and listened to records. It was a pretty awesome weekend.

In other (more appropriate) news, I put up some more new tattoo photos today. Hope you like 'em!

6.5.07 - It's finally summer - time to get (mostly) naked and show off those tattoos!  Be smart and use sunscreen (SPF 45 or greater) on your healed tattoo EVERY time you expect sun exposure.  It's cheap, it only takes a few seconds to apply, and it keeps your tattoo looking tasty for a long, long time.  Click here for summer tattoo tips.
